I'm conflicted. Although I feel creeped out by the presence of Kay's doctor, I do feel it's important to highlight something:

Now I'm wondering exactly what type of amortal Dr T is. He looks like a D&D Mindflayer, which would tie in with his occupation, although I really hope for Kay and P's sakes that that isn't the case. Mindflayers are horrible things.

It would make a big difference if this was her pediatrician or her psychiatrist.

I hope that the next update clarifies this, and while I'm not a speciest, I am hoping for the latter rather than the former... The tentacles are rather disconcerting either way.

Her psychiatrist. We've actually seen him in the comic before.

Why "Mr. Trove" if he's a doctor?
Brian 28th Apr 2016, 3:48 PM edit delete reply
Mr. Medusa would have been better.

In the UK, if he's a consultant (a senior doctor), they're referred to by their social title - i.e Mr, Miss, Mrs, etc. I don't know if America follows the same rules.

I suppose it might be proper to walk around calling someone who is a doctor Doctor So-and-so outside of an office... but that sounds so stuffy to me. You're not a doctor right now, you're a guest. Maybe I'm wrong?

It depends on the personality of the doctor.

Most doctors I've met (all within the US) prefer to be 'Dr.' unless they're close enough to someone to be on a first name basis. That is, Dr. Guy Pretentious would either be Dr. Pretentious or Guy. Never Mr. Pretentious or Dr. Guy. Or, for that matter, Mr. Guy.

But different people are different. I've known a doctor who insisted on going by his first name with everybody. You could only get away with calling him Dr. Affable from the time you were referred to see him until you were in his office as a patient the first time. And he'd set you straight before you got more than one 'Dr.' off in his direction.

Someone who wanted to be called Mister while off the clock is perfectly plausible. But I'd only expect a psychologist or psychiatrist to be that atypical.

And we all thought he was an ancient horror before this.

It's true - he was pretty creepy to begin with.
Grindzy 29th Apr 2016, 4:34 AM edit delete reply
Hmmmm, perhaps he's an amortal doctor specifically meant to track down humans that can see amortals and... eheh... "work" it out of them.

As "Mmmmmm"s go, this is definitely one of the more ominous ones. =/
