I just want to take a moment to talk about what happened yesterday in Boston - obviously, I'm devastated. People approach things in life with the misguided understanding of: "It'll never happen to me, my town, my family, etc," until that sort of thing happens.

I don't live directly in town, but rather close to it - I spend a fair bit of time there, and as you know Kay and P is based in Boston. The city holds a very special place in my heart. Yesterday was harrowing not only watching the suffering of strangers, but trying to wrangle up my own friends and family to make sure they were safe. I'm so very lucky and grateful to say that I believe they all are; but I know there were men, women and children affected by that act that are in terrible straights in the city right now.

I'm trying not to watch the news voraciously at the moment - not until they really know what happened and why - the hype-train just makes people more anxious and scared than they need to be. One thing however I have been thrilled to hear about is the amazing amount of strength and solidarity shown by the residents of Boston. It reminds me of a large family who doesn't get along all the time, but when one of their own is in trouble, everyone comes running. I think it's a keen reminder that people who do bad things will always be trumped and defeated by the kind and good people of humanity, and that no one should ever lose hope. If we could look at these excellent citizens and model ourselves against their heroism in the face of danger, and willingness to jump to the rescue, then I think the world would be a better place.

I'm going to let you get to the comic now, but know also that I still fully intend to be at Boston Comic Con next weekend. I believe in the city, and will be there to show it.

Thank you to all those in the city of Boston for your beautiful spirit and strength.
